Extras for Cliniko ("the extension") is a browser extension that adds features to the Cliniko practice management website. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Cliniko.
Summary
- The extension has no servers of its own and does not collect, sell or share your data or your patients' data.
- It reads patient and appointment information from your Cliniko account, using your existing Cliniko login, only to show it back to you inside Cliniko.
- Two optional features send a small amount of information to a third-party service, as described below. Both can be switched off in the extension's popup.
Information the extension reads
When you use Cliniko with the extension installed, it reads information from your Cliniko account. This includes patients' names, contact details, addresses, medical alerts, appointments, treatment note status, invoices, contacts and products. It reads this through Cliniko's own website, while you are signed in, to show pop-ups, diary highlights and summaries. This information is not sent to the extension's developer.
Information stored on your computer
The extension stores the following in your browser on your own computer:
- Your settings, such as which features are on, your locations and your appointment type choices.
- The names and IDs of your practice's appointment types and businesses.
- Postcode coordinates, so that travel estimates don't have to be looked up again.
- The names and Cliniko IDs of the last five patients whose pages you opened (the "Recently viewed patients" feature). This list is kept in your browser's storage for your Cliniko site until you clear your browsing data or switch the feature off. On a computer shared by several people, anyone who uses Cliniko in the same browser profile can see this list.
- The visit-history chart for the last patient you viewed, for a short time, so that it appears quickly when you go back. It is cleared when you close the tab.

The extension does not use analytics, advertising or tracking.
Your practice's responsibilities
Your practice remains the data controller for its patients' information. If your practice's data protection policy requires it, switch off "Map of address" and "Travel time between visits" in the extension's popup. With both off, no patient information leaves your browser except through Cliniko itself.
Removing your data
To remove everything the extension has stored, uninstall the extension. For the recently viewed patients list, also clear site data for your Cliniko site. To cancel your subscription, use "Manage subscription" in the extension's popup.
